Technology Layers
While not specifically a technology, analysis and design are a key part of our product offering. We use industry standard processes and notations to ensure that we can capture and communicate requirements and designs.
Over recent years the trend has been to move away from thorough object-oriented design to one of building business components based around frameworks and standards. This has clearly failed to have the desired benefit that was expected in the early days of this approach. Instead, the thinking has now gone full-circle, with well designed, crisp object models being back in favour. These are then plugged into lightweight frameworks and containers which aid the model rather than dictate it. Serious object-oriented anaysis and design are on their way back. A simple static web site needs nothing more than pages developed using HTML, some images and perhaps CSS style sheets. However, more complex and interactive web sites need the more powerful technologies offered by DHTML. These include HTML 4.0, CSS and Javascript 1.2. Templemore Technologies can blend the appropriate components together to create the web site that you need.
Many web sites need more than pages that look good and are interactive. They need content that is built dynamically on the server and then formatted for presentation before being sent to a client browser. In simple cases this can be done using the CGI mechanism with Perl. More advanced solutions require more complex technology. We focus on the Java collection of technologies for creating dynamic web sites. These include Servlets and Java Server Pages (JSP). For really advanced dynamic sites there is also the option of database integration and the use of XML and XSLT (for separation of data from multiple presentation formats).
When systems get very complex they often require complex business logic. If a system requires this then it is best to group this logic separate from the code used to present it to the user. This increases flexibility and reuse and makes it easier to maintain and expand the system as the business grows. The use of Application Servers and enterprise technologies make the business layer possible.
Templemore Technologies focus on the Java collection of enterprise technologies for the business layer, combined with newer lightweight frameworks for lifecycle and persistence.
Where volumes of information are high and change regularly, the use of a database is essential. We can support a wide range of relational database products and design database schemas that map cleanly to and from the business layer.
